The presentation of the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 in 2006, represented as never before the closest relationship to the Corvette race cars. The 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 closed, even more, the gap between the race cars and production. This year, Corvette continues its tradition of technology transfer tracks to the street with the 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition.
"Designed to further incorporate technology developed through racing competition, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Limited Edition Carbon represents a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the first race Corvette in the 24 Hours of LeMans," said Jim Campbell, General Manager Chevrolet. "With a limited production of 500 units, this car is the model that every true Corvette collector and enthusiast driver would wish to have."
The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition is another example of the expansion of portfolio Corvette products. Five years ago, customers had the option of a Corvette coupe or convertible. With the addition of Z06, the coupe and the convertible Grand Sport and the ZR1, Corvette fans now have more choices than ever.
"To use on runway, the Z06 Carbon is the most balanced Corvette so far. Combines the light and natural Z06 engine with the road-holding and braking of the ZR1," said Tadge Juechter, Corvette Chief Engineer."
Option packages of the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition will be available in the United States this year.
