With gas prices sky high most individuals who drive are interested in ways they can make their car more fuel efficient and save as much money as possible. While there are no fuel saving tips that will keep your car full of gas without filling up, there are some tips that really can help you save money on fuel over the long run.

All of these tips focus on making your car more fuel efficient.

Saving Gas Tip #1 Drive When You Crank Up. This might seem obvious, but as soon as you crank up your car you should drive off. However, many people crank up and leave the car idling for a while. Instead of this, when you crank up drive off and only keep your car running when it is absolutely necessary.

Saving Gas Tip #2 Don't Ride the Break. Many drivers hit the break more often than is necessary. Additionally there are quite a few drivers that slow down for a braking car when they could easily switch lanes. Not riding the break can increase your fuel efficiency by up to 30%, so this is a great tip you should follow.

Saving Gas Tip #3 Turn Off Your Car. If you are going to be stopping for more than 10 minutes you should switch off your car to keep fuel efficiency at its peak and not burn more gas than is necessary.

Saving Gas Tip #4 Don't Turn Off Your Car. If you are only stopping for a brief moment or less than 5 minutes then don't turn off your car because the amount of gas used to crank up is more than you would burn in that short period of time.

Saving Gas Tip #5 Inflate Tires Properly . Too many drivers never think of their tires, unless one goes flat. However, having tires that are properly inflated can save fuel and make your car more fuel efficient, saving you money. Because of this, you should check your tire pressure on a regular basis.

While gas prices don't seem like they will be dipping considerably in the next few months every tip to help you make your car more fuel efficient is helpful. So, follow the above fuel tips and you will see that over time your car really is more fuel efficient.

I found more tips to save gas, here they are:

:list: Don't drive with a full tank, says Jim Davidson in his book, 75 Ways to Save Gas: Gasoline weighs a lot and taxes the engine, meaning it has to work harder – and burn more fuel – to keep you moving. And don't refuel when the tank is one-quarter full. Wait until the tank is empty and the dashboard light comes on. Some people call this gas surfing. Just don't try it while on a trip.

:list: Choose synthetic (factory-made) oil. The engine parts will move much more freely than with natural oil, increasing mileage by nearly 10 per cent. Synthetic oil costs a little more, but doesn't have to be changed as often.

:list: Add nitrogen to your tires. Nitrogen is a dry, inert gas that has larger molecules than air. This means almost no leakage through the valve, rim and sides. Your tires stay pumped up longer, giving better fuel economy and less wear.

:list: Install a fuel-use gauge. This computerized gadget gives you an instant reading of how much fuel your car is using. It keeps you honest, since you can see how much gas you waste by revving the engine or speeding.

:list: Don't overfill the gas tank. When the pump clicks, stop. It's a costly mistake to top up. Any gas pumped after the click will just evaporate or spill down the side of the car.

:list: Tighten the gas cap. Make sure it goes on smoothly after you refuel. If the cap is crooked or loose, you'll lose gas when it overflows out the neck of the tank as you drive.

:list: Keep the car's body clean and smooth. Dirt or dents cause aerodynamic drag, overworking your car's engine and raising the fuel bill. A washed and waxed car can use up to 5 per cent less fuel than a dirty one. Check the underbody and wheel wells for caked-on dirt and mud.

:list: Chill in the shade. Park in an indoor lot or in the shade of a tree or building. A car can get up to 15C degrees hotter sitting out in the sun. The extra heat will make you more inclined to use the air conditioning to cool off.

:list: Park with the hood pointing out. Backing out of a parking spot when the engine is cold takes a lot of effort (and gas). All the jockeying to park with your hood pointing out is done when the engine is warm, so it's easy on fuel.

:list: Don't do the drive-throughs. Park your car and walk into the fast-food restaurant instead. The typical drive-through wait is five minutes, making you waste fuel by idling the engine.

:list: Start a fuel economy group. Plan to meet over coffee, start a blog together or link up in a group email. Make it a game to see who can get the best mileage each month and give gas cards as rewards. Check EcoModder.com or CleanMPG.com for fuel economy tips.

More tips to save gas:

:car: Stay within posted speed limits: Gas mileage decreases rapidly at speeds above 60 mph.

:car: Avoid aggressive driving: You can improve gas mileage up to 5 percent if you avoid "jackrabbit" starts and stops by anticipating traffic and driving gently.

:car: Turn off the engine if you anticipate a wait: Remember that idle cars are the fuel waster's playthings.

:car: Combine errands. Several short trips taken from a cold start can use twice as much fuel as one trip covering the same distance when the engine is warm.

:car: Use overdrive gears and cruise control when appropriate.

:car: Remove excess weight from the trunk: An extra 100 pounds in the trunk can reduce a typical car's fuel economy by up to 2 percent.

:car: Keep your roof clear: A loaded roof rack or carrier creates wind resistance and can decrease fuel economy by 5 percent.

:car: Make sure your tires are properly inflated and aligned: That can increase gas mileage up to 3 percent.

:car: Check and replace air filters regularly. Replacing clogged filters can increase gas mileage up to 10 percent.

Y found more tips to save gas!!!

:list: Coasting makes a huge difference on your gas mileage. Stopping and starting eats a lot of gas - our gas mileage during acceleration goes down to as low as 10 miles per gallon. Coasting, on the other hand, uses virtually no gas at all.

:list: Driving 75 on the interstate is substantially less fuel efficient than driving 55 on a two-lane highway.

:list: Wind resistance makes a tremendous difference in your drive. Simply put, driving on a windy day (unless the wind is consistent and at your back) is incredibly inefficient.

:list: Turn off your cruise control in hilly areas.

Some tips for gas savers:

:car: Use lower-octane gasoline. Most of us don't need expensive high-octane fuel for our cars: after all, they don't really improve our cars' fuel economy nor increase their performance. At worst, they might even cause the accumulation of damaging carbon deposits in your engine (these are not burned as completely as lower octane fuels). Unless your car specially requires premium fuel (you can check your owner's manual if you're not certain of the recommended fuel for your car), pass on those and fill up with good yet more affordable fuel.

:car: Steer clear from the sun. It's not just you who loses energy and patience from intense heat; your car does too, -except that it loses fuel instead. Parking your car under the bright sun causes more evaporation emissions, which will eventually rub out fuel from your tank. Using a reliable windshield shade and parking under the shade (even your good old garage will do) are good solutions to this.

:car: Check your tires. Before going out for a drive, make sure that your tires are inflated enough. If your car's tires have low PSI, they'll experience more resistance, making it hard for your engine to maintain speed. (This tip is already well known). Use a digital gauge and note down your tire pressure every month, preferably when it's cold and before using it. It should correspond to the recommended pressure based on the owner's manual or the notice posted on your car door. Inflate your tires as necessary.

:car: Change your air filters. They may not look closely related, but the condition of your air filters affects your engine's performance. Check them each time you have your oil changed--usually every three months (about 3,000 miles) or based on your owner's manual. A clogged air filter leads to a harder time for your engine and wastes fuel. If you simply change clogged air filters, you can save gas money for it boosts your mileage by up to 10 percent!

:car: Do regular tune-ups. Simply fixing a car that has gone amok already improves gas mileage by roughly four percent. Even if your car is in tip-top condition, giving it regular tune-ups is still worth it. Always check your spark plugs. Worn out spark plugs diminish fuel efficiency by up to 30 percent.

:list: Lighten your load. Take out your golf clubs, toolbox and other heavy items when you don’t need them. Any extra weight reduces your car’s fuel efficiency.

:list: Use cruise control as much as possible because driving at a constant speed increases your gas mileage. Plus, it sure makes that daily commute a little more bearable.

:list: Switch into overdrive to decrease the engine’s speed and save gas.

:list: Keep the idling to a minimum. Instead, turn off the engine while you’re waiting for your pals to pick up something from the store or finish getting ready.

:list: Gradually accelerate to waste less gas.

:list: Maintain your tire pressure to ensure that your tires are always properly inflated. In addition to better gas mileage, it will help your tires last longer.

:list: Use the grade of motor oil recommended by your car’s manufacturer, whether it be 5W-30, 5W-20 or 10W-30.

:list: Give your engine a tune up on a regular basis.

:list: Only turn on the air conditioning when you’re dripping sweat and threatened by heat stroke. Okay, maybe that’s a bit extreme, but you get the idea. Use it sparingly.

:list: Take off bike or luggage racks when you aren’t using them. They interfere with the aerodynamics of your vehicle and cause drag, which causes your car to expend more energy than necessary.
