:car: 2009 Volkswagen Jetta pros and cons by Edmunds.com
Pros: Diverse selection of strong engines, upscale look and feel, comfortable seats, impressive cargo capacity in both body styles, pleasant ride.
Cons: Below-average fuel economy with 2.5-liter engine, small backseat compared to midsize competitors.

Observations: Jetta actually boasts significantly more cargo space than VW's new Tiguan compact SUV -- 18 more cubic feet with the seats up, 10 more with them folded. Also notable this year is the new 2009 Jetta TDI. The popular diesel-fueled TDI trim level has been MIA the past few years due to new government emissions regulations, but implementation of "clean diesel" technology has allowed VW to bring back the TDI.

:car: carreview.com observations:
The Carefree Maintenance Program was the best thing they could have added to their 2009 models - 3 years or 36000 miles- i love that because im the type of person who would wait till the last minute to take my car to get serviced but now since its included I dont have any excuses,

Strengths: A lot of the features that you usually have to pay extra for on other cars are included on the Jetta - Heated Seats(on cloth or leather)now that's HOT and the Auxiliary Input Jack- everyone has a Ipod now - (except me) but im going to get one
Weaknesses: The engine is a little loud, back seat is a little tight but i dont have to sit back there LOL, Large trunk.

:car: thetruthaboutcars.com observations:
You can savor the style at the bottom of the Jetta’s A-pillar, where the intersection of the sedan’s roof, windscreen and hood flow with the go. The Jetta’s jewelry works equally well; the mid-sizer’s maw isn’t a cartoon and the circular taillights are a far more elegant solution than the Rabbit’s wraparound lamps. In fact, the Jetta’s sheetmetal displays plenty of good old fashioned German gravitas. Taken as a whole, the Jetta’s cabin feels like what it is: a Passat that’s undergone a radical plushectomy. While my ’08 tester’s fit and finish were frickin’ flawless, they pale into insignificance compared to the unforgiving slabs of petroleum-based concrete that line the creature capsule.

:car: Cnet.com observations:
The good: An efficient, turbocharged engine gives the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen 2.0T ready power and decent fuel economy. An optional navigation system shows traffic conditions. Music can be played from the car's hard drive or from an iPod.
The bad: Bluetooth phone support is absent from the Jetta SportWagen. Destination input with the navigation system can be quirky.
The bottom line: The 2009 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen combines practicality and quick performance with some good cabin tech options, although the lack of a phone system might be a deal breaker.

:car: Businessweek observations:
The Good: Mileage, low cost of diesel fuel, cheap sticker price, handling.
The Bad: Volatility of diesel prices, VW's rep for iffy reliability.
The Bottom Line: A discount German driver's car that sips fuel like a hybrid.
